Joni K. Doherty, MD, PhD

Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California

Dr. Doherty is an otologist/neurotologist and an Assistant Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). She is board certified in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Neurotology.

Dr. Doherty’s clinical interests include chronic ear disease, otosclerosis, cochlear implantation, vestibular disorders and skull base tumors including acoustic neuromas and meningiomas. Her research centers on the genetics and biology of inner ear disorders, including vestibular schwannomas. Her work on vestibular schwannoma biology and behavior has been funded by the National Institutes of Health.

An active participant in the field, Dr. Doherty has authored numerous research publications and textbook chapters. She is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Doherty graduated with Honors from UCLA and earned her M.D. and Ph.D. in Cell Biology from The Oregon Health & Sciences University. She completed her residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Southern California prior to completing a fellowship at the House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles.
