Sanjay is a neuroscientist and drug developer who brings 15 years of experience in drug discovery to his role as Vice President of Discovery Biology. Throughout his career, he has worked on a variety of neuroscience indications, as well as on kidney disease and other therapeutic areas. At Frequency, Sanjay and his team discovered a novel target, created unique in vitro and in vivo assays, and generated new chemical entities to develop remyelination therapeutics that are being advanced toward clinical studies.

Before joining Frequency, Sanjay led multiple discovery efforts at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. While there, he spearheaded a program for adrenoleukodystrophy, leading it from conception through to IND-enabling studies. Sanjay has served on the ALD Connect Patient Foundation’s industry advisory council.

Sanjay did his undergraduate work at Brown University, earned his PhD in neuroscience from Harvard University, and completed fellowships at the Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard University Center for Nervous System Repair and M.I.T.’s Picower Institute for Learning and Memory. He was awarded a Science Policy Fellowship from the National Academy of Sciences and is the author of numerous scientific papers and commentary in prominent journals including Nature and Science.
