Peter Schultz, PhD is the president and chief executive officer of the Scripps Research Institute, where he also serves as a professor of chemistry. Dr. Schultz has made seminal contributions to the field of chemistry, including the development and application of methods to expand the genetic code of living organisms, the discovery of catalytic antibodies, and the development and application of molecular diversity technologies to address problems in chemistry, biology and medicine. A member of the National Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Schultz has co-authored more than 600 scientific publications and received many awards in recognition of his accomplishments as a translational researcher. He has also founded nine biotech/technology companies that have pioneered the development and application of new technologies to challenges in energy, materials and human health. Dr. Schultz received both his undergraduate and doctoral degrees at the California Institute of Technology and completed postdoctoral studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
