Julie Arenberg, MS, PhD

Julie Arenberg is a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and the Associate Director of Research and Education in Audiology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear since 2019. Dr. Arenberg obtained her PhD from the University of Michigan in 2001 and her Masters’ of Science in Audiology from San Francisco State in 2003.  Following clinical and postdoctoral training at Stanford University and the University of California at San Francisco, she joined the faculty at the University of Washington, in Seattle in 2005.  There she was the director of the Doctor of Audiology program and an NIH-funded research program.  Her research focuses on the optimization and individualization of programming for cochlear implants, with a goal of understanding the underlying interface between the cochlear implant electrode array and the target auditory neurons.  She also studies auditory development and the role that plays in outcomes of pediatric cochlear implant listeners.  As the director of research and education, she facilitates audiology-driven research at the thriving clinic at Mass Eye and Ear.
