Daniel J. Lee, MD

Dr. Daniel J. Lee is the Chair of the Clinical Advisory Board at Frequency Therapeutics. Dr. Lee is a fellowship-trained pediatric and adult otologist – neurotologist and is board-certified in Otolaryngology and Neurotology. He is on the full-time clinical staff in the Department of Otolaryngology, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (MEEI) and Associate Professor, Department of Otology and Laryngology, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lee is also on the associate staff, Neurosurgical service, Massachusetts General Hospital, both in Boston, MA. Dr. Lee is director of Pediatric Otology and Neurotology in the division of Pediatric Otolaryngology, director of the Helene and Grant Wilson Auditory Brainstem Implant program, and program director of the Harvard Neurotology Fellowship.

Dr. Lee’s clinical interests focus on pediatric and adult cochlear implantation, auditory brainstem implants for infants, children and adults, sudden single-sided deafness, and superior semicircular canal dehiscence. Dr. Lee is a Principal Investigator and Research Associate in the Eaton-Peabody Laboratories at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He has received continuous research funding since 2003 and his basic science research efforts involve 1) study of auditory brainstem anatomy and physiology, 2) auditory brainstem implants and 3) optogenetic auditory implants.

Dr. Lee received his BA in Biology from Columbia College in New York and his MD from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He completed his internship in the Department of Surgery and residency in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. Following residency, Dr. Lee completed a research and clinical fellowship in the Johns Hopkins Center for Hearing Sciences and the Division of Otology, Neurotology, and Skull Base Surgery, Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Lee has lectured extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Dr. Lee has co-authored over 100 basic and clinical research publications and book chapters and is the recipient of several NIH and private foundation research grants.
